A cat owner has left internet viewers in stitches after showing the chaos that unfolded when her two felines got up to no good when they were unattended.
Many owners know just how concerning it can be when their pets are suspiciously quiet—when you can hear them, at least you know what they are doing. While Rebecca Johnston was getting ready for work in December, she became aware of how extraordinarily quiet the house seemed. This left her with one question: what were her cats, Lorenzo Valentine (nicknamed Lolo) and Pedro Infante (nicknamed Pepe) up to?
Johnston, 42, of Charlotte, North Carolina, told Newsweek that the silence was “concerning and suspicious,” so she immediately began searching for the duo. As it turned out, the mischievous felines were up to no good in the bathroom where Lolo was trapped inside the shower.
“It took me about an hour to get ready for work, and nobody made a sound the entire time,” Johnston said. “I always say goodbye to them before leaving the house, but, that day, I couldn’t find them anywhere and it was unusually quiet. When I walked into the bathroom, I found Lolo trapped inside while his little brother was outside with a guilty look all over his face.”
Johnston couldn’t resist sharing footage of the hilarious moment she found the duo causing havoc, and she shared the clip on TikTok (@thebeckyj_). The video showing “the funniest cats” has gone viral with over 1.2 million views and more than 275,000 likes at the time of writing.
Unfortunately, moments like this aren’t too hard to come by, as Johnston told Newsweek that the duo are “always up to something.”
The online reaction to the clip is beyond anything Johnston anticipated, but she has loved hearing from so many fellow cat owners who know exactly what felines are like. Johnston loves documenting Lolo, 4, and Pepe’s, 1, drama and even set up their very own Instagram account, @loloandpepewhiskers.
“Pepe is mischievous and completely obsessed with his big brother. He’s always bothering and licking Lolo. Whereas Lolo mostly tolerates him, but they actually get along really well,” Johnston said.
Since the video went viral, many TikTok users took to the comments section to quip about the unexpected scenario Johnston walked into. This has led to more than 1,300 responses to the viral video so far.
One comment reads: “Pepe is innocent!”
Another TikTok user wrote: “Plot twist: Lolo did this himself.”
A third person replied: “Pepe looking like he just showered and told Lolo it’s your turn!”
One commenter joked: “as Pepe’s lawyer, I’m calling backup for this case.”
