Jordan Love highlighted a specific way the Green Bay Packers offense can leap forward this season.
The quarterback detailed a key change he anticipates from his unit during an interview with ESPN’s Kevin Clark at Green Bay’s training camp.
“The biggest difference, I think, is our ability to finish,” Love told Clark. “I think that’s kind of where we had a letdown last season, was being able to finish late in games, late in the season, all those things. So, I think this year, that’s the mindset. That’s the goal for us, is to be able to go out there and finish, no matter what the situation is. Just have that killer mindset.”
Love explained that the offense can’t grow complacent late in games regardless of the score.
“It’s everything. I think player-wise, it’s all about focus,” Love said. “Especially when you have a lead in the game, not losing focus and continuing to focus on all the little details so everyone can go out there and execute every play.”
The 27-year-old wants to “clean up” some late-game execution from last season, but that goal extends beyond protecting leads.
“Find ways to climb back in that game,” Love added. “It’s never over until it’s over.”
Love’s comments seem to suggest that last season’s first-round playoff elimination remains on his mind entering the 2026 campaign.
The Packers entered the fourth quarter with a 21-6 lead over the Chicago Bears, who mounted an improbable comeback by scoring 25 points in the final period. Green Bay followed a dominant start by punting on four straight drives to open the second half.
Before that bitter ending, Love completed 58.3 percent of his passes and posted an 89.0 quarterback rating in the fourth quarter during the regular season. He threw just two touchdowns in five losses, each decided by eight points or fewer.
Love can implement this new mission when the Packers open their season with an NFC North road matchup against the Minnesota Vikings on Sept. 13.
