Rescue Dog Wants To Nap Next to Baby, Tears Over How He Makes It Happen

A rescue dog taking his babysitting duties very seriously has melted hearts, as he was seen moving his bed closer to the baby so they could nap together.

Dog owner Sara Lemons, 48, was delighted when she learned that she was going to become a grandma in 2025, but she did have one slight concern. She wasn’t sure how her rescue dog, named Bo, would react to the new baby, telling Newsweek that she was “a little nervous” at first.

As it turned out, she didn’t need to worry because Bo fell in love with the newest addition instantly. Now, whenever Lemons is babysitting her 5-month-old granddaughter, there’s only one place Bo wants to be.

“I actually consulted a trainer when my daughter-in-law was pregnant because I wanted to learn ways to help Bo adjust to the baby visiting,” Lemons said. “But he loved her immediately, and what started as a simple curiosity is now a deep friendship in the making.”

Lemons couldn’t resist sharing a video on TikTok (@strickley.sara) of the “world’s best uncle.” The clip shows Bo moving his dog bed across the floor, with the caption explaining that he repositioned it to be “closer to the baby so they can nap together.”

The clip has delighted the internet since it was shared on January 15, going viral with over 365,800 views and more than 50,000 likes on TikTok at the time of writing.

Lemons explained to Newsweek that the footage is actually in reverse because she couldn’t capture Bo’s antics in real time. However, she says that it’s something he does often.

“I watch my granddaughter every Thursday, so I begin those mornings prepping Bo by saying ‘the baby is coming’ so he can be ready (and he always is). He waits by the door or the window with his collar light on, so he can light the way,” Lemons said.

She continued: “He wants to be right where Laynie is. If she’s sleeping in her playpen, he’s on the floor beside her. If she’s sitting in her bouncer, Bo is right there. He’s very protective of her and it’s the sweetest.”

Bo, who is a 6-year-old pointer and Labrador mix, was rescued by Lemons’s firefighter son a few years ago, along with his 10 siblings. The puppies were found by the side of the road and Bo was taken home by Lemons’s son. After he moved out, Bo stayed with Lemons, who told Newsweek that he fills their otherwise empty nest.

In the months since the baby was born, Bo has developed a precious bond with her already. Lemons often shares videos on social media showing just how much he dotes over her, including clips of the dog waiting eagerly by the door for her arrival.

“Now at five months, my granddaughter is becoming aware of Bo and will smile when she sees him. I think they were born to love each other,” Lemons said.

The adorable clip of Bo repositioning his bed has touched plenty of hearts online so far, leading to more than 70 comments on TikTok at the time of writing.

Onne comment reads: “I love how he looks to check where the baby bouncer is and then looks at you like ok, I’m ready hello.”

Another TikTok user wrote: “nap supervisor.”

Another person joked: “How’s he supposed to keep an eye on her from way over there anyway?”

While one commenter added: “omg this is the most wholesome thing.”
