A miniature dachshund has melted the hearts of viewers on TikTok after putting her paws firmly down over a daily ritual she clearly believes is non‑negotiable, a stop at Starbucks for a pup cup.
A viral video shared to TikTok by the dog’s owner under @livingwithweenies captured the tiny dachshund standing motionless in the middle of a sidewalk, leash taut, refusing to take another step. The reason for her protest is spelled out plainly in text overlaid on the clip: “POV: [Point of view] She refuses to walk past a Starbucks. She needs her daily pup cup.”
The post was captioned simply, “every time.”
A pup cup—sometimes called a puppuccino—is an informal coffee shop treat made especially for dogs, typically consisting of a small cup of whipped cream served in an espresso-sized cup. Baristas commonly offer it for free to customers with dogs, and it has become a widely recognized ritual for many pet owners.
The short video, which has been viewed more than 156,000 times since it was posted on February 20, shows the long-haired dachshund’s quiet but resolute standoff.
She does not bark or tug—she just plants herself, looking ahead as if daring her owner to try and move on without fulfilling the clearly understood agreement. The moment has struck a chord with viewers on TikTok, many of whom recognize the familiar stubborn streak that dachshunds are known for.
The clip quickly drew a flood of amused and affectionate comments.
“I mean they are free,” one viewer joked, while another pleaded on the dog’s behalf: “Mom…please, it won’t take long.”
Others were convinced the canine knew exactly what she was aiming for.
“It’s like she knows what she’s doing,” one comment read.
The dog’s owner confirmed that suspicion in a reply that delighted viewers.
“She knows where three of them are, in any direction we walk out of our front door,” the owner wrote. “And she makes me stop every time.”
The response only reinforced the idea that this dachshund’s Starbucks strategy is carefully mapped and repeatedly executed. As the video continued to circulate, commenters began jokingly projecting themselves onto the determined dachshund.
“A girlie who knows what she wants…Takes after her mama,” one person wrote, while another added: “She’s me I am her.”
Others echoed the sentiment with comments like “me as a dog” and “she knows her worth so give it to her now.”
Several viewers cut straight to the obvious solution.
“Time to take her for a pup cup,” one said, while another added: “She is like me I say you take her! And treat [yourself] as well.”
