The Jacksonville Jaguars will be without defensive tackle DaVon Hamilton and safety Eric Murray for the rest of the season, head coach Liam Coen announced Monday, according to the team’s official website.

Hamilton sustained a quadriceps injury during Sunday’s 42-7 victory over Indianapolis. Murray injured his elbow in the same game.

The Jaguars (5-2) visit the Ravens (4-4) on Thursday night, with two starting spots to address after a four-sack, three-turnover performance.

Hamilton started Jacksonville’s first seven games this season, recording 16 combined tackles, half a sack and a forced fumble. Jacksonville drafted him in the third round out of Ohio State in 2020.

Murray, a fourth-round pick by Kansas City in 2016, started five games this season and recorded 15 combined tackles. He joined Jacksonville in March 2025 after previously playing for the Chiefs, Browns and Texans.

The loss of Hamilton comes after Jacksonville limited Jonathan Taylor to 23 rushing yards on eight carries Sunday. Colts quarterback Daniel Jones threw for 144 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions.

Jaguars Turn to Defensive Depth

Coen plans to distribute Hamilton’s work among multiple defensive tackles.

“It’s going to be by committee,” Coen said, via the Jaguars’ official website. “Those guys are all going to have to play meaningful snaps for us.”

Arik Armstead, Matt Dickerson, Ruke Orhorhoro and rookie Albert Regis are among the options. Jacksonville also signed Austin Johnson to the practice squad Monday. Johnson spent last season with the team.

Armstead shared a sack with Josh Hines-Allen against Indianapolis. Linebacker Foyesade Oluokun also recorded a sack, while rookie defensive end Bryan Thomas Jr. recovered a fumble. Jacksonville also got production from young safeties who could take on more work without Murray.

Rayuan Lane III returned an interception 92 yards for a touchdown before halftime. Rookie Jalen Huskey, a third-round draft pick, recorded a fourth-quarter sack, while Kaevon Merriweather contributed two tackles and a quarterback hit.

The Jaguars will face rookie quarterback Joe Fagnano on Thursday night. He’ll start for the Ravens in place of Lamar Jackson, who is headed to injured reserve with a right thumb injury.
