The New York Yankees begin their AL Wild Card series against the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday, and they have now provided an encouraging update regarding superstar slugger Aaron Judge.
While speaking to reporters, Yankees manager Aaron Boone shared that Judge is making progress with his injury recovery.
“He did some hitting underneath,” Boone said. “Obviously, the weather did not allow us to get outside. I believe he will be a part of the live today, so he’s making progress, and we’ll continue to see where he is at.”
Hearing that Judge is making progress with his injury recovery is certainly promising news for the Yankees. He is an immensely important part of their lineup, and it would be huge if he is given the green light to return to game action during their playoff series against Boston.
Judge has not played for the Yankees since their Sep. 16 game against the Minnesota Twins due to a calf strain. Yet, given this update from Boone, it is certainly fair to wonder if Judge will end up being ready to return for their series against the Red Sox.
If Judge continues to trend in the right direction with his recovery and is cleared to return, it would be significant for New York. He is the Yankees’ best player, so all eyes will be on him from here.
In 66 games this season with the Yankees, Judge recorded 18 home runs, 41 RBI, and a .241 batting average. This was after he had 53 home runs, 114 RBI, and a .331 batting average in 152 games during the 2025 season with New York.
