New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye is going through it right now.
Maye, who is now tied for the league lead with five turnovers, reached that unfortunate distinction with an ugly fumble that just slipped out of his hands on a pass attempt in the first quarter of Sunday’s matchup with the Jacksonville Jaguars — with it being perhaps the worst of a long string of turnovers from the third-year signal-caller.
Maye has put the ball on the ground eight times since the start of last postseason, giving him 13 total turnovers across that span of seven games against the Houston Texans, Los Angeles Chargers, Denver Broncos, Pittsburgh Steelers, Seattle Seahawks (twice), and Jaguars — with all but one forcing multiple turnovers entering Sunday.
It’s starting to be a real issue, with plenty of folks noticing the unfortunate trend.

“Still plenty of time to rebound in today’s game, but it has been a bad first nine quarters of football for Drake Maye this season. He now has five turnovers and just one touchdown,” wrote Patriots beat reporter Doug Kyed.

The Patriots have plenty of issues to address through three weeks, but none are more important than fixing the former NFL MVP runner-up.
