MANILA, Philippines — From one iconic witch to another.
Kathryn Hahn is officially confirmed to portray the villain Mother Gothel in Disney's live-action remake of "Tangled" currently in production.
The Emmy-nominated actress made the announcement with a cheeky outfit reveal in an Instagram video where she jointly tagged Walt Disney Studios.
Her top was a black t-shirt featuring different faces of Mother Gothel from the original 2010 animated film, voiced by Tony winner Donna Murphy.
Hahn also used the handle @motherhahn on Instagram, with her biography description reading, "Mother knows best," one of the character's lines in the original movie.
Disney later shared the video on its social media accounts with the caption, "You want her to be the bad guy? FINE. Kathryn Hahn is Mother Gothel in Disney's live-action 'Tangled.'"
Hahn was in the mix along with Marvel co-star Scarlett Johansson to play the villain following confirmation of the two lead actors earlier this year.
Young actors Teagan Croft and Milo Manheim will portray Rapunzel and Flynn Rider, roles originally voiced by Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi.
"The Greatest Showman" director Michael Gracey helms project to be written by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson.
Hahn is best known for her comedic appearances in "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days," "Step Brothers," "Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery," and "The Studio," for which she received her fourth Emmy nomination. She also leads the Marvel Cinematic Universe series "Agatha All Along" as Agatha Harkness.
