MANILA, Philippines — Hospital rooms can't contain actor-producer Noah Wyle, the newest celebrity hailed as the "Sexiest Man Alive" by People magazine.

The entertainment outlet revealed Wyle as the latest titleholder, succeeding Jonathan Bailey and joining the likes of Chris Evans, Michael B. Jordan, Idris Elba, David Beckham, Chris Hemsworth, Patrick Dempsey, and Channing Tatum.

"I thought that sounded like a prank — just not in a million years did I think that this would be an honor bestowed on me," the Emmy-winning actor of "The Pitt" told the outlet.

He credited his wife Sara for convincing him the accolade was real, quipping that the title was a reflection of her taste.

"She thinks I'm a good guy and that the kind of person that I am and the kind of father I am, the kind of husband I am, is worth promoting," Wyle added.

"I hope this changes everything. I hope it's just wine and roses, milk and honey from here on out," the actor laughed. "No, I don't [think anything will be different], but I am going to take a lot of ribbing from friends and family for sure."

Wyle's former "ER" co-star George Clooney is a two-time recipient of the "Sexiest Men Alive" title, and the new winner believes Clooney will "be amused and feel like a proud papa."

The actor reflected on being his physique back in middle school when he felt insecure. Athletics and academics were not his thing in high school, but he found a home in acting.

"I like being in other people's skin. I like putting on characters. I get self-conscious. It's still the hardest kind of interaction for me, speaking without a script as myself," Wyle explained.

The outlet interview ended with the actor being grateful for Sara, his children and parents, colleagues, the work he does, and mentors he's had over the years.

Wyle has won the last two Emmys for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his "The Pitt" role, Dr. Michael "Robby" Robinavitch. He also received back-to-back Outstanding Drama Series Emmys as a producer on the show.
