MANILA, Philippines — A second member of Korean girl group Twice has left home label JYP Entertainment in less than a week.

Singer Son Chae-young, more popularly known as Chaeyoung, followed suit from her fellow member Jeongyeon in exiting the agency, confirming the development in an Instagram post.

"I wanted to share this with Once first my family, who has always been by my side," the artist wrote to fans in Korean and English. "I’m so excited to step into a new chapter and bring my new 'LIL FANTASY,' a world where I can explore and build my music."

Once is the term for fans of Twice, while "Lil Fantasy" is the singer's debut album released in September 2025.

Chaeyoung thanked her colleagues at JYP for the belief and support she received in the last 14 years, and to fellow Twice members who she "loved beyond words" and call her "strength and biggest supporters."

The K-pop star made it clear that despite her departure from JYP, she remains a part of Twice and her commitment to the group will continue.

"Everything I’ve received is thanks to my time as Twice, which will always be my roots," she said. "I hope both Chaeyoung of Twice and Chaeyoung in 'Lil Fantasy' can continue to create music that brings meaning to you as well.

Chaeyoung ended her letter acknowledging the new challenge ahead for her and vowing to "keep growing into an even better person and artist."

The singer did not mention if she was signing with another label. Jeongyeon was announced as an artist of Varo Entertainment, the agency which handles her older sister Gong Seung-yeon, as well as Byeon Woo-seok, Jin Goo, and Lee Chae-min.

As of writing, the other members of Twice — Nayeon, Momo, Sana, Jihyo, Mina, Dahyun and Tzuyu — are awaiting updates on their solo contracts with JYP.
