GEORGE TOWN – A 21-year-old female university student was found dead after allegedly falling from a building in a hostel block at a higher education institution in Jalan Bukit Gambir, Gelugor, today.
Timur Laut district police chief ACP Abdul Rozak Muhammad said police received a call from the university at 8.40am informing them that the student’s body had been found.
He said the university’s cleaning staff discovered her at 7.25am, lying on her back on the concrete floor below the hostel block.
The student was pronounced dead at the scene.
"Investigations at the scene found no signs of criminal elements, while an examination of the body revealed several external injuries suspected to have been caused by a fall from a height," he said in a statement today.
The body was sent to Penang Hospital’s Forensic Department for a post-mortem, and a sudden death report (LMM) was opened to investigate the case. –BERNAMA
