TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Barcelona secured a 2-1 victory over Egyptian club Al Ahly in the 2026 Joan Gamper Trophy preseason match at Camp Nou Stadium early Thursday morning, August 20, Jakarta time.
Barcelona fielded several young players in its starting XI. Hansi Flick's squad immediately took the attacking initiative and opened the scoring in the 30th minute.
Young Egyptian forward Hamza Abdelkarim got his name on the scoresheet. He netted a tap-in after capitalizing on a cutback pass from Alejandro Balde on the left flank, putting Barca ahead 1-0.
Barcelona was then awarded a penalty in the 45th minute after Raphinha was brought down inside the box by Al Ahly defender Hady Reyad. He stepped up to the spot and calmly converted. His shot hit the back of the net, giving Barcelona a 2-0 lead going into halftime.
Al Ahly attempted to mount a comeback after the break. Their efforts paid off in the 50th minute when Zizo scored off a swift counterattack.
Barcelona was awarded another penalty in the 90th minute. Anthony Gordon, who had come on as a substitute, was brought down from behind by an Al Ahly defender near the goal area.
Gordon took the spot-kick himself, but his shot toward the bottom left corner was saved by Al Ahly goalkeeper Mohamed El Shenawy.
