INDIANAPOLIS – Mavericks forward Cooper Flagg left Friday’s game against the Indiana Pacers after an apparent injury to his left shoulder.
Flagg came up with a steal in the final minute of the second quarter and appeared to have a breakaway two-handed dunk, but he was fouled by Aaron Nesmith from behind, causing him to land on his left shoulder. Flagg remained on the floor, clutching his left shoulder as an altercation ensued a couple feet away.
Naji Marshall rushed to Flagg’s defense and confronted Nesmith, who pushed Marshall away. Both teams had to be separated by officials. After an official review, Nesmith was given a flagrant foul 1 and received a double-technical foul alongside Marshall.
The Mavericks entered halftime with a 77-43 lead, with Flagg leading all scorers with 14 points, five rebounds, six assists, three steals and one block.
Marshall started the second quarter in his place. Flagg did not return to the game, an eventual 121-105 Mavericks victory.
