Before the 2025-2026 Champions League quarter-finals, the Premier League leads the UEFA coefficient rankings with 25,013 points, 4,732 points ahead of second-placed La Liga.

In the first leg of the quarter-finals, Arsenal defeated Sporting Lisbon thanks to a stoppage-time goal from Kai Havertz. Coupled with Real Madrid's narrow defeat to Bayern Munich, the Premier League is guaranteed to finish in the top two of the coefficient table at the end of the season, thus securing the fifth Champions League spot for next season's representatives.
This will be the second consecutive season that English football has secured another ticket to European competition. This year, five English teams are in the Champions League after leading the Premier League: Liverpool, Arsenal, Man City, Chelsea, and Newcastle. Meanwhile, Tottenham are in the Champions League thanks to winning the Europa League 2024-2025.

According to UEFA's regulations, the organization awards additional continental competition spots to the national league with the best performance in the Champions League, Europa League, and Conference League. The English Premier League showed consistent form, leading for most of the season. All nine English teams participating in UEFA's three club competitions advanced beyond their group stages, although only five progressed to the quarter-finals.

Currently, the race for the top 5 in the Premier League is extremely unpredictable. Liverpool are in 5th place with 49 points, just one point ahead of Chelsea in 6th place, while the two teams outside the "Big 6," Brentford and Everton, are three points behind. In fact, the gap between 5th place and Bournemouth in 13th place is only 7 points.
Additionally, if Aston Villa (currently ranked 4th in the Premier League) win the Europa League and remain in the top 5 until the end of the season, a Champions League spot will automatically be awarded to the team ranked 6th.
Even the club in seventh place could qualify for Europe's top competition if both English teams that win the Champions League and Europa League finish in the top five of the Premier League.
At this point, the Premier League will be more than just exciting in the title race. Any slip-up from now on will significantly impact the dream of winning European competition next season.
