The introduction of the new 2026 Hyundai Casper Electric Lounge variant demonstrates the South Korean automaker's direction towards elevating its product offerings, while also affirming that even a micro-SUV can deliver a luxurious experience instead of just a basic one.

Within the product range, the Lounge version is positioned higher than the off-road-styled Cross, becoming the most premium option. On the exterior, it's distinguished by a redesigned grille, an exclusive Glow Mint paint option, and brighter body trim details.

The 17-inch alloy wheels on the 2026 Hyundai Casper Electric Lounge give the car a futuristic look, making the overall appearance more modern, while LED headlights and taillights are standard, similar to the Cross version.

The interior space is the most striking feature of the Lounge version. Hyundai has equipped it with genuine leather seats – a rare detail in the small car segment – along with a premium textile headliner and sun visors.

The sound system has also been upgraded with speakers using Kevlar diaphragms, delivering better sound quality. In addition, the car features a 10.25-inch infotainment screen along with a similarly sized digital instrument cluster and Level 2 ADAS active safety package as standard.

Some features, such as sunroofs and wireless charging, are offered as options, while Hyundai also provides a variety of accessories to enhance convenience, from storage solutions and pet-friendly equipment to roof racks and inflatable mattresses for resting.

In terms of performance, the Casper Electric Lounge uses a 113-horsepower electric motor combined with a 49 kWh battery pack. The range is approximately 295 km per charge, slightly better than the Cross version but lower than the Inspiration version due to differences in wheel size. This range is suitable for urban commuting needs, consistent with the design philosophy of a small electric vehicle.

In South Korea, the Casper Electric Lounge is currently the most expensive version in this line, priced at 36.41 million won (US$24,500), about 1.26 million won (US$850) higher than the Cross version. However, after electric vehicle support policies are implemented, the actual price could drop significantly to around 20 million won (US$13,400), making the model more accessible to urban users.

Hyundai has not yet confirmed plans to distribute the Lounge variant to international markets under the Inster name. Meanwhile, the company continues to offer the gasoline-powered Casper variant in South Korea with a 1.0L three-cylinder engine, although this variant is not offered in higher-end versions like the Lounge or Cross.
