Following the success of the Teramont and Viloran models in the Vietnamese market, Volkswagen is preparing to strengthen its presence in the SUV segment with a completely new model. According to sources from Thanh Nien newspaper, the official distributor of Volkswagen in Vietnam is getting ready to launch the Volkswagen ID. Era 9X.
The name might sound unfamiliar, because the ID. Era 9X is a completely new SUV product from Volkswagen. Unlike previous models distributed by Volkswagen, the ID. Era 9X opens a new chapter as Volkswagen's first Extended Range Electric Vehicle (EREV). This model is manufactured by the SAIC Volkswagen joint venture at its factory in China – the same factory that has supplied the Teramont and Viloran versions to the Vietnamese market in recent years.

Recently, Volkswagen dealerships in Vietnam have begun accepting pre-orders for this model. Meanwhile, the distributor has confirmed to Thanh Nien newspaper the plan to launch the Volkswagen ID. Era 9X. In the latest announcement, a representative from Volkswagen Vietnam stated: "The Volkswagen ID. ERA 9X will be delivered to customers from the end of October 2026, with an expected price of under 3 billion VND." Thus, Vietnam will become one of the earliest markets (after China) where the German automaker distributes the ID. Era 9X. Furthermore, it will be one of the EREV models distributed in Vietnam.
With the styling of a large SUV, the Volkswagen ID. Era 9X is the brand's largest model, boasting dimensions of 5,207 x 1,997 x 1,810 mm (length x width x height) and a wheelbase of 3,070 mm. This model features a minimalist, boxy design without many sharp lines or cuts to create a striking look. The front of the Volkswagen ID. Era 9X is highlighted by its LED Matrix headlights, while the rear door can open up to 80 degrees.

In the rear, passengers are provided with a massive 21.4-inch 3K resolution entertainment screen. Additionally, the vehicle is equipped with integrated multi-functional touchscreens hidden on either side of the rear doors.
In particular, the four rear seats of the ID. Volkswagen equips the ID. Era 9X with a hybrid powertrain combining a 1.5-liter gasoline engine and an electric motor. This combination delivers a total output of 510 horsepower and 660 Nm of torque. The vehicle utilizes an all-wheel drive (AWD) system with eight driving modes: Comfort, Sport, Eco, Custom, Off-road, Snow, Super Eco, and Wading. The Volkswagen ID. Era 9X also features rear-wheel steering with a "Crab Walk" function and can wade through water up to 700 mm thanks to its adjustable ground clearance.
According to Volkswagen, with EREV technology, the gasoline engine only serves to power the battery pack, resulting in a combined fuel consumption of only 4.57 liters/100 km. The maximum driving range on a full charge is approximately 1,651 km according to CLTC standards. This SUV uses a 65.2 kWh battery pack built on an 800V electrical platform. This platform allows the vehicle to charge from 10% to 80% in just 16.5 minutes.
