The 2026 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class model is upgraded with the MB.OS operating system, generative artificial intelligence, illuminated trim details, and a host of luxury features.
Instead of a complete overhaul of its appearance, the German automaker focused on refining design details, enhancing personalization options, and, most importantly, integrating a sophisticated artificial intelligence (AI) system. These changes aim to solidify the Maybach S-Class's position as an icon of luxury in the digital age.
The appearance of the upgraded 2026 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class continues to maintain the elegant design language but is enhanced with illuminated details to improve brand recognition.
The 2026 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class's large grille now comes with an optional illuminated surround, and the Maybach logo and three-pointed star emblem on the hood may also light up depending on the market.
The front and rear lighting systems have been redesigned with a distinctive star pattern, creating a more sophisticated visual effect when driving at night. A notable technical detail on the exterior is the set of forged wheels with a polished chrome finish.
The wheel hub utilizes a "floating" Mercedes logo mechanism, allowing the emblem to remain upright regardless of the wheel's rotation speed—a feature commonly found on top-of-the-line luxury vehicles.
Inside the cabin, the 2026 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class is designed to be a true "mobile lounge." The massive Superscreen display system now features a unique graphical interface exclusive to the Maybach line.
In addition to traditional premium wood and leather trim options, the company has added a leather-free interior configuration, replacing it with sustainable textile and synthetic materials while still maintaining a luxurious feel. The focus of this upgrade lies in the new MB.OS operating system platform.
With support from Microsoft and Google's artificial intelligence and cloud computing, the car is capable of understanding natural language commands and learning user habits. The AI system can automatically suggest destinations, adjust air conditioning temperature based on voice context or daily behavior, transforming the interior into a highly interactive and intelligent entity.
The rear seats remain the most important area on the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class, featuring a two-seat configuration. The business-class seats recline deeply, similar to first-class cabins on airplanes, and come with amenities such as automatic door opening and closing, a mini-refrigerator, and a silver-plated champagne glass holder.
To ensure ultimate comfort, the vehicle's active suspension system has been upgraded with the ability to "read" and remember road surface data. Through sensors, the car can identify and store the location of potholes or rough road sections in memory, thereby automatically adjusting the shock absorbers to optimize passenger comfort on subsequent journeys on the same route.
In terms of performance, Mercedes-Maybach offers a variety of powertrain options. The S580 version is equipped with a new flat-crank V8 engine producing 530 horsepower, supplemented by an additional 23 horsepower from a light electric system. For customers who prioritize muscle power, the V12 version is still available with 603 horsepower, allowing this nearly 2.5-ton vehicle to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in approximately 4 seconds.
Additionally, in some markets, this model also has a plug-in hybrid variant using the M256-Evo 6-cylinder engine. The combination of a 3.0L turbocharged gasoline engine and an electric motor not only provides instant power but also allows the vehicle to operate entirely on electric power for a range of over 96 km, suitable for low-emission urban commuting.
