The 2026 Ducati Desmo450 MX motorcycle will utilize the distinctive Desmodromic valve system, giving it superior performance compared to other 450cc dirt bikes.
Ducati introduced the Desmo450 MX in May 2025, the first professional off-road motorcycle in the company's history. This bike was born from Ducati's guiding philosophy: testing and refining solutions in racing before incorporating them into production.
The Desmo450 MX is a motorcycle born from the experience Ducati Corse gained in MotoGP and Superbike, then honed through motocross races around
the world . The Desmo450 MX is the first model in the dedicated off-road motorcycle line, designed to introduce Borgo Panigale to a new world, reach new bikers, and thus develop the Ducatisti enthusiast community.
The arrival of the 2026 Desmo450 MX marks the Italian manufacturer's first foray into the motocross segment in the country. Developed based on experience gained from the MXGP World Championship, the model brings Ducati's distinctive racing DNA to the rapidly growing off-road segment in India.
Structurally, the Desmo450 MX utilizes a lightweight aluminum frame designed with a minimal number of welds to increase structural rigidity while improving handling agility.
The chassis design of the 2026 Ducati Desmo450 MX off-road motorcycle aims to provide precise handling and high stability in demanding motocross racing conditions.
In addition, Ducati also offers a range of high-performance accessories through its Ducati Performance catalog, including CNC-machined wheel hubs, high-performance triple clamp kits, Brembo racing brake calipers, and full titanium exhaust systems developed by Akrapovič.
Alongside this, the company also introduced a collection of technical apparel specifically for riders, designed in collaboration with Drudi Performance and the motorcycle protective gear brand Alpinestars.
The Desmo450 MX's power comes from its 449.6cc single-cylinder engine, incorporating the Desmodromic valve train – a signature technology often found on Ducati's high-performance sportbikes.
This system allows for precise control of valve opening and closing, resulting in a wider power range, strong torque at low and mid-range RPMs, while maintaining stable performance at high RPMs. According to the manufacturer, the engine produces 63.5 horsepower at 9,400 RPM and 53.5 Nm of torque at 7,500 RPM, paired with a 5-speed gearbox with quickshift functionality.
One of the most notable features of the Desmo450 MX is its advanced electronic rider assistance system. Ducati claims this is the first motocross bike to be equipped with a traction control system capable of accurately measuring rear wheel slip.
The system is programmed to intervene only when absolutely necessary, thereby minimizing the impact on performance during high-speed acceleration or when the bike performs jumps on the racetrack. In the Indian market, the Desmo450 MX is priced from 1,723,600 rupees (approximately 491 million VND). This model is expected to arrive in Vietnam later this year.
