On September 10th, Billboard announced its list of the most successful songs of the summer of 2026. The charts were compiled based on the songs' performance on both the Billboard Global 200 and Global Excl. US charts weekly.
The data includes online listens and sales in over 200 territories worldwide , compiled by Luminate. Global 200 calculates data globally, while Global Excl. US focuses on markets outside the US.
No one can surpass Shakira when she sings World Cup songs.
According to Billboard , "Hate That I Made You Love Me" debuted at number 1 on the Global 200 chart on June 13th and spent three weeks at the top.
Since its release, the song has consistently been in the top 5. This is the lead single from the album petal , giving Ariana Grande her seventh album to top the Billboard 200 after debuting at number 1 on the chart in August.

Meanwhile, "Dai Dai" held the number one spot on the Global Excl. US chart for 10 consecutive weeks. The song became the first official World Cup song to top this chart.
Shakira and Burna Boy performed "Dai Dai" at the World Cup opening ceremony on June 11th at Estadio Azteca, Mexico City, in front of over 80,000 spectators.
Then, on July 19th, during the World Cup final at MetLife Stadium, Shakira, Justin Bieber, BTS, and Madonna led the first-half performance, the first in the history of a World Cup final.
Burna Boy and many other artists also appeared in the 11-minute show, including Dai Dai .
On the Global 200, Ella Langley ranked second with "Choosin' Texas ," while Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean" came in third. "Dai Dai" was fourth, followed by Tame Impala's "Dracula " and Jennie.

On the Global Excl. US, following Dai Dai are BTS's Swim and Justin Bieber's Beauty and a Beat featuring Nicki Minaj. Billie Jean is in fourth place, and Hate That I Made You Love Me is in fifth.
Alongside the new hits of 2026, several older hits are also making a strong comeback this summer. Michael Jackson's songs are receiving more attention after the Michael Jackson biographical film. Justin Bieber's songs are also gaining more interest after the singer's appearance at Coachella.
Previously, Alex Warren's "Ordinary" topped the global summer 2025 song list. Sabrina Carpenter's " Espresso" led in 2024, and Jungkook's "Seven" featuring Latto dominated the summer of 2023.
