The summer transfer market is witnessing an unprecedented financial frenzy. According to statistics from Transfermarkt, no fewer than 200 football clubs around the globe have broken their own transfer records to bring in quality new players.
The surge in value is particularly evident in the English Premier League. The top league in England continues to assert its absolute dominance in terms of financial power, with 11 out of the 20 participating teams this season setting new spending records in club history.
Two multi-million euro deals shake up the market.
Leading the list of record-breaking transfers is the deal that brought midfielder Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa to Chelsea . To secure the agreement from the Villa Park club, the Blues' management had to spend a colossal sum of 138 million Euros. This transfer simultaneously set two records: the most expensive transfer in Chelsea's history and the highest player sale fee in Aston Villa's history.
Closely following behind is Manchester City with their €135 million signing of Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest. This deal also set a record for both Manchester City's most expensive purchase and Nottingham Forest's most expensive sale. Both Morgan Rogers and Elliot Anderson have now officially entered the list of the 10 most expensive transfers in world football history.
The Premier League has an absolute dominance in the leading group.
The economic power of Premier League clubs is evident as they occupy eight positions in the top 10 most expensive club transfer deals. Tottenham made a huge impression by spending €108 million to complete the signing of midfielder Sandro Tonali, setting the highest transfer fee in the history of the North London club.
Not only the top clubs, but also mid-table clubs in England are willing to spend heavily to upgrade their squads. Aston Villa reinvested €60 million in Johan Manzambi, Brighton spent €54 million on Luka Vuskovic, while Brentford splashed out €48 million for Mamadou Sangaré. Even newcomers or lower-ranked teams like Leeds United and Fulham have broken records with James Trafford (€46.7 million) and Gonzalo Garcia (€40 million).

Outside of England, European football only has two representatives that have managed to break into the top 10 most expensive transfer records. These are AC Milan with the signing of striker Goncalo Ramos for €74 million and Fenerbahce with the €39 million acquisition of Mason Greenwood.
In Turkey, Besiktas made headlines by spending €30 million to sign Orkun Kokcu from Benfica. Meanwhile, Sporting CP broke their own Portuguese league transfer record to buy Rodrigo Zalazar from Braga. In France, the sensation Paris FC also made a major breakthrough with a €25 million signing of Patrick Zabi from Stade Reims.
Notably, River Plate became the only non-European club to appear in the top 20 records. The Argentinian football giant officially broke its all-time transfer record by reaching a €20 million agreement with Atletico Madrid to bring Thiago Almada back to the club.
