On its official website, Toyota Vietnam (TMV) has just updated the prices for the Toyota Camry. The D-segment sedan is no longer available in a gasoline-only version, and the starting price of the hybrid versions has also been reduced by 140 million VND.
Currently, the Toyota Camry is available in two versions equipped with the HEV powertrain: the Camry HEV Premium is priced at 1.32 billion VND , while the Camry HEV Luxury is priced at 1.46 billion VND .
Information in the catalog for the D-segment sedan shows that Camry HEV Premium is the new name for the Camry HEV MID CE version, which previously cost 1.46 billion VND . Therefore, the new price of the car has been reduced by 140 million VND.
The Camry HEV Luxury version is essentially a rebranded Camry HEV TOP CE. Compared to the previous price, the top-of-the-line Toyota Camry in Vietnam retains its original listed price.
| Old version | Previous price (billion VND) | New version | New price (billion VND) |
| Toyota Camry 2.0Q | 1.22 | Stop selling | But |
| Toyota Camry HEV MID CE | 1.46 | Toyota Camry HEV Premium | 1.32 |
| Toyota Camry HEV TOP CE | 1.46 | Toyota Camry HEV Luxury | 1.46 |
Previously, in an exchange with reporters, a sales consultant at a Toyota dealership in Ho Chi Minh City confirmed that the Japanese automaker would stop selling the all-petrol version of the Toyota Camry 2.0Q.
It is highly likely that the superior sales of the Toyota Camry HEV versions compared to the gasoline-powered version are the reason for TMV's move.
According to a report from the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA), as of the end of May, the Toyota Camry 2.0Q had accumulated sales of 73 units, while the HEV versions recorded cumulative sales of 316 units during the same period.
After the Mazda6 and Honda Accord were discontinued, the D-segment sedan group, according to VAMA's sales statistics, now only has two representatives: the Toyota Camry and the Kia K5. However, since the beginning of this year, Kia K5's sales figures have not been regularly updated, making Toyota Camry's sales representative of the overall business situation for the entire high-end sedan segment.
Besides the Toyota Camry and Kia K5, Vietnamese customers can now consider several popular D-segment sedans from Chinese brands, including the MG7 and BYD Seal.
