Skipping breakfast, drinking lots of bubble tea, or constantly snacking at your desk can be the reasons why belly fat accumulates without you even realizing it.

Skipping meals or eating haphazardly, without a fixed schedule.

Many office workers have a habit of eating quick breakfasts or lunches, or even skipping meals altogether, due to their busy work schedules. Many believe that cutting back on meals will help with weight loss, but in reality, it backfires. When the body lacks energy, the brain sends signals that make you crave food more intensely in the evening. As a result, many people overeat after work with large amounts of food, increasing their total daily calorie intake and making it easier for visceral fat to accumulate.

To avoid this, you can set an alarm to remind you of mealtimes or prepare a packed lunch. Small, convenient portions like bento boxes, yogurt, fruit, or low-calorie snacks not only help maintain energy but also support better portion control.

Drinking too many sugary drinks

Coffee with milk, soft drinks, or bubble tea are often considered a "mental doping" for office workers when they are tired, especially in the early afternoon. However, the high sugar content in these drinks can cause the body to consume extra calories without realizing it, thereby increasing the risk of fat accumulation, especially around the waist and abdomen.

Sometimes, feeling hungry between meals is actually just a sign of dehydration. So, keep a glass of water on your desk and maintain a regular drinking habit. If you're not used to drinking plain water, you can substitute it with unsweetened herbal tea or warm water to limit your sugar intake.

Storing snacks in the drawer

A drawer full of candy, chips, or chocolate can lead you to unconsciously snack throughout the day. When stressed at work or feeling peckish, many people easily reach for food without controlling their calorie intake.

If it's difficult to break this habit completely, you can replace it with healthier options such as nuts, unsweetened dried fruit, or high-fiber foods. The important thing is to eat smaller portions instead of consuming the whole package at once, which helps limit calorie intake while working.
